Thursday, April 3, 2008Springtime!

Aren't they pretty! Daughter Karen planted these when she was in high school and I look forward to them every year! There are other bulbs up and blooming around the yard as well but this is my favorite picture. It was nearly 70 degrees today! Got lots done today and even opened up the house, meantime, to let the fresh air in. Hope you are getting a glimpse of spring, too!

This is how I spent my birthday! Crocheting this scarf out of the denim strips that didn't work for the shawl, it's the stretch denim that proved to be too fragile for weaving. Worked fine here, tho I did add a blue carry-yarn with it. I also did laundry and oiled some looms. A pretty mild birthday, but we had our night on the town Saturday so that was fine. Both my kids called and I had long chats with them and a brief chat with the two youngest grandsons. The elder was sick today so was not available. I made this scarf to wear to the Art Cruise this weekend. It'll go with the shawl! My necklace has been a bit hit with the art group. It would be nice if someone visiting the gallery this month found it irresistable, too!
Anyway... I hope your April Fools were all fun ones!

Close up

The cut stretch denim freys and give a kind of chenille look to the scarf. It is just 4 dc's wide but done with a very large hook. There's no size id on the hook but I tried this first with a size 15 knitting needle and it was too small. I didn't want to take the time to make myself a bigger set so when I found this hook I just went with crochet. I think I'm going to add a little chip bag to the fringe to give it a bit of glitz.

I have been so busy it does not seem like it can have been that long since I posted. So sorry! Finally have everything in the gallery ready for this months show. I am still weaving, playing with thenew Multi-Loom and trying to work out a good book mark loom, which we've had numerous requests for. Randy is in the shop almost daily now trying to get stock made for the up coming shows. We'll be doing Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, Oregon in June and Oregon Flock and Fiber show in Canby in September and maybe the Lambtown event in Dixon in July. He's building a house this summer and we hope to get the basic shop up, too. We only managed to get the road in and the site cleared last summer. This afternoon I am doing spring cleaning in my studio. Intense cleaning after a winter of being the place to put what you don't know what to do with! I'm sure most of you know what I mean!
Hope it's showing signs of spring where you live!
